If I was interested in refitting the six fuel injectors on my 280E, (K-jetronic) what do I need?
Parts listed with the injectors include o-rings, seals and holders in addition to the injectors themselves. Looks to cost around $30+ for each set of the above. Should I do the lines up to the injectors at the same time? Anything else while I am at it? This is one of those "peace-of-mind" projects where once done, I have a baseline on what not to worry about. The car runs like a champion, especially at 70. The only problem I have that urges me to do this is poor warm-engine starting. I have worked at other areas of this problem, so I am running out of possible remaining causes. There is some suspicion that the injectors are flooding the cylinders, making the warm-start difficult. Also, isn't 25 years on one set of injectors justification for replacement, despite having only 49,000 on it? What do you think?

Your injectors are mechanical, not electric, I believe. I never heard of mechanical injectors "Going bad." I would just take them out and soak them in carb cleaner if I were you. Those are made to last forever - literally.

My '81 380SL had the same warm start problem, and new injectors and seals cured it. You have all the right parts. For $180, it is worth it to take that problem off the table, IMHO.

The K-Jet injectors go bad when they get plugged (there is an internal filter) or the nozzle gets worn and they dribble. Leaking injectors will give poor idle and hard warm starts.
