Pics Of My New W111

Here's some pics of my new baby, 1964 220S. Had one previous owner who had the car repainted and the seats redone some years ago. Has A/C, automatic, (I'd rather have had a manual), and only 58,000 miles !!! I won't be seeing one of these every time I turn the corner - especially one in this nice a shape.

Nice - too bad you couldn't get higher res pics! But it looks sharp - keep her running in tip-top shape!

Wow!
The dash and seats look great.
I like the color as well.
Do you mind telling what you paid for it?

Josh

More Info & Pic

I probably wouldn't have bought it if it hadn't been this black over red .. its very striking. The best option is the under-dash "KOOLmiester" A/C unit. The guy who owned it was in his 90's and can't drive anymore. Here's another pic.

I hadn't been into that color combo until now.
It is striking indeed and commands your attention when you enter the space of that vehicle.
I paid a little more for mine, got the euro lights, 4 speed and sunroof but there are a couple of blemishes that yours apperently doesn't have.
Are there any questions about the 111's? There might be a couple of mysterious things ie greasepoints, I could point out.
Forgive me if I insult, I know nothing of your background, and I am no expert for sure.

Same color as my Dad's first one, a '61 220S and the color combination I would have prefered. I have a green '60 220S now.
Gotta love those fins! I'm starting to install AC in mine. Does yours still work?

Happy Motoring, Mark

VERY nice car! I wouldn't change a thing!

My next-door neighbor has a 65 200 for sale in Portland, OR. It has about 65,000 original miles and he's owned it since it was new. It has been garaged all its life. It's in EXCELLENT condition -- in fact, he mentioned that the rear seats have NEVER been sat it (I'm not sure why he thinks that's important, though!). It's white with blue tex interior. It's also a 4 speed on the floor.

I would probably buy it ($3500 asking) but a 200 is a 4-cylinder engine. I believe that the 200 was the base model that year. Is any one familiar with that particular model that could advise if the 4 banger is a good engine or not? My guess is that it would be pretty darn slow (but the 4 speed will probably help). I'm not sure if it has A/C or not -- I doubt it.

Thanks for the offer of help Josh. I'm no expert either on mechanics. I work at Mercedes-Benz here in Clearwater Florida. A couple of the guys who work in our shop have been around Benz forever and are familiar with the W111 so I let let them handle all the maintenance. Here's another pic.
