Location of Glow Plug Relay in 1979 300D MB
Hi All,
I'm hoping somebody knows where to find the glow plug relay on a 1979 300D Mercedes Benz. Thanks

Black electrical box on left front fender well on them i believe for pencil tipped glow plugs. Am notso sure about loop style plugs. Otherwise dive into Russian parts schematics: http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb0.asp?TP=1 Hope this helps.

In some of these the fuse was on the firewall behind the valvecover, and the relay was inside under the steering column.

I think it is directly above the foot pedals. Silver box nut and bolted to the support arm for the hanging pedal assembly. Remove lower panel under dash to access area. This for sure on 77 models with series glow plugs. I suspect same identical set up on the 79s.

Answer
Here are pictures of the relay location in a 1976 300D.
  FYI why this relay was removed: The contact points welded together, melting down the relay coil and cooking the circuit board. .

FYI
I removed the factory relay, and made this temporary assembly to activate the glow plugs.
