Wink Vinyl/Magnetic "D" badges

If any of you want an authentic "D" badge, one of the members in Heckflosse is getting the specs and making some up for sale at his cost plus shipping. I will post the details when known ..... These are the ones which are black
"D" on a white background and can be placed on any metallic surface on the car in the front or rear .... Ben Carter

People in Europe used em to identify which country your from, allot of the registration plates used to look the same. Now they all look the same (in the european union) apart from a little blue badge on the plate witch says F (France) S (Sweden) and so on.
Since Norway is not a member of the European union, we don't have those plates, so we still use our big N (black with white background).

Talking Vinyl badges

I just ordered 2 of the vinyl (non-magnetic) badges from www.cafepress.com
and will use those for my 230S and 420SEL until the magnetic ones become available at least .... this tip came from another post in the forum re: these stickers or badges.

Welcome 250c,
further to the euro licence plate (EU countries), each member state has the blue strip and identifying letter of their respective country. the individual reg no runs on countries own individual system. here, since 1987, car registration plates have to include year of reg/county of reg/individual number. for example, a recent Dublin registration would be "04 D 12345".
Prior to '87, reg no's were a bit more haphazard, though traceable.
my car is originally Swedish, and i have the old plate no (3letter 3number).

Having lived in Germany for a while, With regard to the 'D plates', the locale of German cars can be identified similarly. a single letter before the digits signifies the car is registered in a large city (eg B is Berlin), two letters means a smaller city ( BN for Bonn), and three letters means not quite the middle of nowhere, but you can see the middle of nowhere...

have a good weekend all!!

I bought the magnetic type, but it's a vinyl one. You see the pressed alu ones at classic car shows...

Wink "D" badges from Heckflosse member

Just got a message from this person; he said he is making some from scratch, (must be a printshop owner) but is only going to sell them at cost to members of the heckflosse group -- which is devoted to fintails .... sorry about that .... Ben Carter

Really ? Where's all the rust on the wheel arches gone ?
So what is it? A 1971 250 or a '72 280 ?

I lived in England up until 1988. I know about rust !

late '72 280CE. Most of the rust was on the chassis, and welded and patched up to a point of no return. I sold the car on a few years back, but still have the magnetic GB badge. That was the only part that wasn't rusty
