Seat back leaf spring mods, need advice
Folks: I am repairing the seats in my 74 280C.
The horse hair is shot and the springs are rusted. I have good seats from a sedan of the same chassis, and plan to use the springs and padding to repair the seats on my coupe. The rear seat back bottom corner is slightly wider on the sedan, so I need to form the leaf spring similar to the coupe spring. What is the best way to do this? I am planning to cut the spring , form it with brute force, and clip the ends together with the same clips used on the original for the joints. Any one done this, any suggestions??
