I have a 92 220te last year I had a problem of misfiring when checked the engine wiring loom was very iffy on stipping it off one of the injector cables no 4 had corroded through I rewired the loom and reinstalled it. The car started first time although it had stood for some months and idled and ran well until the temp reached 80C when the car sounded like it was running on three cylinders turn off let it cool down a little then runs fine until 80C is reached then running on 3 again. Does anyone have any ideas where I should start is this problem typical of something.

Well, you probably still have a bad plug wire. But what the heck, if it runs as good as you write your post, it shouldn't trouble you.

Have built a blink tester and checked for codes came up with 13 14 15 16 17 22 24 38 I then reset the fault codes and run the car again the car again ran ok until 80c then ran really lumpy and came up with code 22 which I think means ignition o/p 1 ( plugs 1 and 4). When I first had my problems I thought it was the coil so replaced it but then found the engine wiring was faulty so rewired if now getting code 22 on new coil when over 80c what could be the problem?

The coil is shot. Temperature is not good for a bad coil.

Thanks for the reply daddi but the car has never overheated 80c is normal running temp and the coil is new.

Checked out coils all OK it turned out to be a bad HT lead Thanks for your help. It shows you should check the basic things first.
