722.3 Parking pawl not working...Any ideas?

My other thread is 7 pages and getting messy....
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/tech-help/308281-help-stuck-road-722-3-no-3rd-4th-gear.html

So just need this question answered and is the issue now:

Summary of prior thread:
a) output shaft gear + governor gear stripped due to my error not locking down axial support. Lost gears.
b) replaced gears, car upshifts now.
c) 722.320 300TE transmission.

BUT:

Parking pawl won't engage and there is a clicking noise at speed (I'm hoping the clicking is something to do with the pawl). Car just keeps rolling back endlessly.

What could I have missed or done wrong with putting the parking pawl back in the output housing? I'm lost here. I went back and forth scouring the manual for something I did not do and I see nothing. I just put it back in...along with the plastic orange oil feed line. Everything else went back in perfectly without issue

Hate to say it, but the only way is to go back in and check it out. Maybe the retaining spring slipped off the post and is not pushing the prawl up to the notch. Its got to be something simple. Congrats on getting the transmission to shift, though.

Agree with ..bbq -- need to go back in and check it out. did you check that the roller slide in the track of the square plastic box as you put the shifter in park?

Thanks for the diy on the reverse repair. the pictures were very helpful.

Good luck

When my 300SD trans made a clicking sound while driving, my reverse began fading away, and I found pieces of metal in the pan. The parking pawl is a pretty simple setup, hard to see how it would just "stop" working unless something in there was real messed up.
