Thanks for the help. I tried it but for some reason it says the vin is invalid.

Datacard
I was able to pull up the data card for this VIN, but it says it is faulty? I don't know what that means. It does list all the SA codes but with no descriptions. I hope this helps.

Thank you... that does help a lot.
Is there any way to tell for sure on a 380sel if the motor has been tuned by AMG without taking it apart? Is the block stamped anywhere? Thanks again! |

That's not a VIN number, I believe it is the chassis number, which is different. Dead giveaway is after the WDB it has the 126032, which is a chassis ID, not a VIN. A VIN will have the WDB, the 2 letters and 2 numbers, for example EA30.

Hmm... that would make sense. Would a euro car have a different style vin?
Once again, I do appreciate all the help! |

Not sure, but I thought the 17 digit VIN was all agreed upon world-wide???

First off, the VIN/Chassis number is one of the same.
As for the construction of the number, the eleventh entry is a letter and not a digit |

I had this same problem with a 280e euro that I owned. WDBfollowed by 14 digits. Only the russian vin decoder could decode it out of the ones that I found online.

They're all digits, some are letters and some are numerals. Even the North American VIN construction is displayed differently in the EPC. For example, my 260E has a VIN starting WDBEA26, while the EPC converts that to WDB124026.

Right, but again that's the chassis number, the VIN is different.

Not technically correct. M.B.'s in the states have a slightly different version of V.I.N. than R.O.W. |
