W126 Euro Headlight Wipers...
Stupid questions.
When swapping would I need to replace valances below the headlights? And can I just swap the motors left to right? I understand they operate opposite of the US setup. But if they do, i would think swapping them would do the job as swapping em.

Yes to first question.
Doubt heavily to second. Lastly, chances of getting a set working is pretty slim. I would just do away with the wipers all together unless you want them for aesthetics.

The aesthetic argument for Euro headlight wipers works well.
side by side comparison: http://www.mbcoupes.com/specialequipment/headlamps.htm I like them a LOT now I have them on my black car with euro lights, corners and valances. (the W126 sedan valances are TWO piece units, by the way.) This is from last year when I owned 2 - one WITH the euro wipers (pearl black '91) and the other WITHOUT (smoke silver '90, shown at the Jaguar dealer in Ventura the day I bought it.)

Thanks much. I like the wipers actually, but the Euro type are much nice and not so cumbersome looking.
And thanks for the comparison photo. Helps a lot. I found a Euro wrecked in my area. Time to go part shopping!

You can swap the motors left to right! However that causes 2 problems:
-The sqirters will never fire because the trigger for them is part of one of the motors, the passenger side one as I recall -The sweep of the US motors is a lot less then the euro ones. They will only clean 1/2 of the lens What I've done on my car is combine the parts from some euro motors (the different gears) with the longer shaft from the US motors so I can still use the US mounting brackets and trim strips. I then got wiper arms from a late W124. It's not exactly the same as a true euro setup, but it works well and does clear all of the lens. -Jason
