300te heat issue

1989 300te. Is it my car, or do all older 300's have such poor heat. I have heat as the car is rolling, but once stopped (light, stop sign, etc), the air exiting the vent turns cold.
Actually, this happens with the A/C also (obviously the reverse: cold when driving, hot when idle).

Thermostats can cause heating issues, does you engine get to operating temp?

Unless the aux water pump is unplugged OR the heater valve isn't functioning properly, you should have enough heat to run you out of the car!

I have a 91 300TE with little heat all the time....enough to take the chill out but not really keep warm. The climate control unit was replaced after the last one fried. The car reaches 80 even on the coldest days. I know there should be more heat but I do not know where to start! Thanks for any help I can get. I also checked the fluid level and the thermosat was replaced not long ago.

Thank you

is that like the one I recently replaced on my 300TD....On the passenger side firewall?

I looked up both on the parts page and found neither....

duh...is this the beast?

I see there are two different ones...I will have to check my dates and please give me a clue where to find it.

thank you!!!!!!!
