winter mode on highway

Going on a trip this weekend...Toronto-Montreal. I usually have the car in W mode for 2nd gear smooth starts and I get better mileage I found. Can it stay in this mode for extended periods of highway driving?

Yes, you can. It actually makes no difference whatsoever for highway driving. Winter mode merely starts from rest in 2nd gear rather than 1st gear. Third through fifth gears are unaffected.

The "W" mode is designed for slippery conditions. It does 4 things: Second gear start, earlier shift points, higher reverse gear ratio, and prevents roll-back on steep hills. You can use either "W" or "S" at any time. If you prefer "W" then use it.

thanks so much guys! My theory, but I think in W mode it would make the 722.6 tranny go longer because the shifts are not harsh, its not always searching for the right gear and just downright smooth like a benz should be.
