1991 300E water pump
Hi, Was wondering if anyone has any experience replacing the water pump on a 1991 300E . Mine is leaking and needs to be done. I have looked at the job and don't see how to gain access to the lower bolts on the pump. This job may be beyond my ability but I'd like to give it a shot since I'm sure it will cost a bundle at a shop.I was a HVAC tech for quite a few years so I'm no stranger to working with tools and if I could figure how to get this pump out , I know I could put a new one in..I did a search but did not see any info related to this model...
Thanx William |

First do a search on this forum. I will wager it's been much discussed.
If it hasn't been replaced, then I would think you would also want to replace the belt tensioner and tensioner shock at the same time. There is a special Snap On wobble socket on an extension that aided in the R&R. Steve |

M103 water pump replacement has been discussed to death.
The lower bolts are easily accessible from the front. It's the upper rear bolt that's a PITA to get to without the right wobble/flex extension. Sixto 93 300SD |

water pump
Thanks guys, I did do a seach but maybe worded it wrong cause I found no info pertaining to it.Also thanks for the tip on the tensioner ... it will be
replaced also...It looked like a daunting job to me because of the lower bolts not being visable altho upper rear bolt looks like it will come out with a swivel.....looks like I will delve into it with your suggestions... Again , thanks for the reply's |

That stub of hose between the head and pump is a PITA to do with the pump in place. The one on there now might not outlast the second pump.

Small hose
Thanks , that hose will be getting replaced and fitted on when the pump goes to the block as it looks like a nightmare , being so short ...
