Oil pressure gauge
Hi all,
My oil pressure gauge has started to work inconsistently. Is there anyway of testing whether its faulty without buying a new one? How can you check the oil pressure of an engine? My cars a w124. Cheers Toby. |

Hi Toby
You can try replacing the sender unit on the oil filter housing and see if it corrects the problem. It's a little cheaper than the gauge ![]() |

If you can find, or someone here knows, the sending unit's resistance at 1.0 Bar and 3.0 Bar, you can get two resistors from Radio Shack, substitute them one at a time for the sending unit, and see what the gauge reads. If it reads 1.0 and 3.0, it's a bad sending unit. If not, it could be the gauge.
Best Regards, Jim |

or disconnect the wire from the sending unit completely. The gage should read at one extreme. Then touch the wire to the block, gage should go to opposite extreme.
