W124 88 with auto Transmission

Hi all,

few months ago I bought a 300e 88 with 112K miles. I changed the motor and transmission mounts and got rid of rough ideal. I believe transmision starts in 2nd gear and shifts up to 3rd and 4th OK however, it shifts down hard with a cliking noise from 3rd to 2nd as the car comes to stop. A same kind of cliking noise can be heard when the car is put to R. Another noticable issue is a humming noise when the trans is in P or N position. The noise would go away when it is put in any gear. I changed the trans filter and fluid right after I bought the car since it was last changed around 70K miles. Is there a way to adjust the rough shift from 3 to 2? How about the humming noise? Thaks very much for your help.

hey man,

check out te flex disks, my front one is shot.... it is warped and kinda cracked, my back one is fine...

these things are on the drive shaft it self... very easy to spot...

I think I have the same problems... like when you go from p to r.. the car makes a fast clunk sound....

I have to wait until april for new mounts, then in may I will do the flex disks

That sounds like a bad torque converter, turbine fins noise.

Thanks for your input guys.

The main problem in addition to the noise in P and N, is the downshift from 3 to 2 which is VERY harsh when i'm stopping. Do you guys think this is adjustable?

My car has a now 3 1/2 year old reconditioned box, but has always (as I can remember) had a slight but noticeable whine when in park or D which disappears when put in D/R. I thought that this was normal, is it not? What problems might it lead to?
