Getting ready to reseal the upper timing cover on my 1990 300ce 24v and just feel a little scared. It's about the the chain tensioner that ratchets. If for some reason it gets tight, goes outward, well as far as i know the lower cover will need to be removed before it can be put back in.Oddly enough i have been a mechanic for many year's. For a while now just diagnostic, no hands on.For my car i need to be the one that does the work. Just fix's that Mercedes addiction. Damm these are sweet car's.
Is there a way to make sure it does not ratchet outward. maybe a piece wood like the old datsuns. Or am i just worried about nothing . I do know about taking out the large nut and spring before taking the gears off. Sorry for the long story, but i have seen this happen to other cars. screws the day up Peace Rich
