New Chrysler 300 and others...
I am surprised I have not seen talk about those cars on here. I had been liking the 300M since it came out, big, looks almost like a bentley (look at it, LOL), luxurious, didn't look like a typical "Dodge"... etc... Then I see Motor Trend or Autoweek last week and they are talking about how it shares the front end with the Mercedes E class, and this and that.. price ? Loaded I think it was like $30K....
Then previously I had seen another road test on the the Crossfire , and I was like "gee those buttons/ dials in the center dash look like Mercedes, ie: warning light triangle "... lo and behold, they say it is basically an SLK, with so many shared Daimler Benz parts from the bin.. What's up with this? Pretty soon it will be like the rebadged Fords selling as Jags on a shared platform and engine ![]() ![]()

I think we're heading for an era of generic cars. There'll be just a couple platforms, and everyone will just put their trim and gee-gaws on them. I saw a picture of the new Subaru WRX, and it looked like the front of an Alfa. Found out an ex-Alfa stylist now works at Subaru. So much cross-pollenation going on now.

I think ya miss-read what he said, as I did the first time. He said "it will be like the rebadged " , as in he was saying it's soon going to be the "same as..."

Cross chassis and part sharing is here to stay. It saves a lot of money.
Everytime I see the 300M i wonder if the rears arms, sway bars or diff will fit my W124 LOL ![]() |

Are you talking about the 300M or 300C? The "NEW" 300 is the 300C... which tookover and replaced the 300M.

What bothers me most is these new dodge/chryslers seem at least on par in terms of quality with the benzes, and yet they cost half as much. But I dont want mercedes to be cheaper, I just want them to be better!

One of you pointed out same quality less money... That's the thing... WTF... "theoritically" I can pay $30K for a loaded 300 (I mean the new nice one that looks huge and "somewhat" resembles a Bentley) and it has the same quality as a new $50K E class... I mean a Mercedes is a mercedes you know, but would hate it to become like Lincoln and Ford ... You can get a loaded up Ford Expedition for far less than a Lincoln Navigator and they are 'basicallY" the same... ![]() |

Are you sure the 300C is replacing the 300M? I haven't read anything to suggest that this is the last year of the 300M. Not that it will be missed.
