Only them? What about a doctor witnesses somebody being hurt? What about a plumber who sees a leaking faucet? What about a teacher that sees an uneducated child? Where does it end?

I wouldn't fault him for that.

Maybe it will be a lesson to all not to be blinded by a badge or symbol of authority. I have always told my wife, if she gets pulled over by a cop, call 911 FIRST before stopping and ascertain that he really is a cop. Don't just pull over and what not because he has a blue suit and a shiny badge.
A store clerk doesn't have the authority or powers of a FBI agent but even then its an illegal act but then he can't go as far as the agents. In case of agents, they will have full access to the facilities without raising any suspicion, thats what makes it worse.

I do agree on the checking the credentials of the cop pulling you over.

here's a few:

"Moral Turpitude", "Color of law" and "Invasion of privacy".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moral_turpitude

using one's position or power to commit a crime....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_(law)

and finally...

http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/invasion+of+privacy

concerning the HAVES verses the HAVE NOTS, this crime only affected the HAVE NOTS because the HAVES do not need charity. the HAVES get private dressing rooms at high dollar stores to try on their $1000 PLUS prom gowns. the HAVES are protected and enjoy a greater degree of privacy and security than the HAVE NOTS. I'm not making moral judgements here, that's just the way it is. The wealthy will always enjoy better health care, better food, better cars, better houses, better everything. there will be no "redistribution of wealth" because the wealthy are generally smarter and understand how to protect their wealth. that's why they are wealthy.
