1983 Mercedes 240D 17K Miles

Please help me figure out what this car is worth. I bought a 1983 240d with 17K actual miles literally in a barn. Paid for it and brought it home. Spent 6 hours pressure washing the dirt off of it and underneath. It was stored properly. After going through all of the fluids it starts up and drives perfectly. Cruise works, door locks work ect... The engine and tranny still have gold on the lines! Interior 100% perfect including wood and seats. I paid four thousand dollars for it. Oh and the paint is perfect with no rust at all. Pastell beige. Came with the original bill of sale and the window sticker that looks like it did from the dealer. No yellowing of the paper. Original spare tire still has German air in it. What is this car really worth?

A car such as that is only worth what anyone is willing to pay for it.

Many cars, low mileage cars sitting unused will rapidly develop problems, especially with rubber seals and such.

What's it worth? try ebay with a high reserve if that's what you're after.Otherwise it's only worth what you are willing to accept.

No, you didn't overpay for it. If you put it up on e-bay with tons of photos and a flashy ad........it'll sell for over $10K............maybe over $15K...........the mileage is compelling if it can be documented.

The key is the e-bay ad. There is a certain way to write an ad for such a vehicle and it's not the typical ad for a $4K vehicle.

There are people who pay serious money for pristine low mileage vehicles.

Do some homework on e-bay and find the vehicles with very low mileage and carefully observe how the copy is written and how the vehicle is photographed.

It's quite a bit of work to do it right...........but, if you want the big money............

If it has a standard tranny I may be interested in swapping a '98 E300 Turbodiesel with 160,000 miles.
