Anyone have a recommendation for nice bath towels?

I was just thinking the other day that it would be nice to have a set of really nice towels. Seems like when they're new, they feel kind of nice but they always get scratchy after about a year.

Is there a premium towel that keeps it's softness? I have some super soft micro fiber towels for waxing the car, does anyone make micro fiber bath towels?

Thanks!

I just get regular towels.

The best I've had so far are Ralph Lauren brand. The bath towel size is like a beach towel, they're really thick and have stayed softer than other towels I've owned for the 5 years I've had them so far.

Also having a water softener makes a big difference in keeping older towels fluffy and soft.

Anything from Williams Sonoma. I bought some very thick soft ones at Costco for a very good price.

Thread count and loop define a towel's softness...both characteristics dictate the overall cost, and hence, the nicer ones are more expensive.

They stay softer longer, but if you aren't using fabric softener in your wash, they will eventually be just as scratchy as the cheapo towels...

I'm the wrong guy to ask this question, as I usually hang on to a towel until it either starts looking like Irish lace, or starts drawing blood.

Turkish or Egyptian cotton towels. Super soft, absorbant and last long time. Oh GI.

I looked at those microfiber towels on Amazon and they're not quite what I was expecting... Might be nice for travel towels though.

This may sound kind of girly but I'm looking for something that's just, uhh "scrumptious" feeling. I do use fabric softener sheets in the dryer but not liquid in the wash. Maybe that's the key.

I'll check out W/S and maybe Bath and Body Works. I'm always getting BBW coupons in the mail.

Not so.

My wife purchased some expensive Land's End high loop nap cotton turkish towels and the loop pile began to unravel after 4 or so gentle wash cycles,in addition, the backing began to rip as well.
