Video of crash test of Chinese made car

Quote:
The dummy in the Amulet had to be removed in pieces, and the magazine, AvtoRevu, is now calling for the car to be pulled from the market. Check out the video after the jump.

If we ever get in a war with China, I hope their tanks are built to the same standards as their cars.

On Youtube there is the crash test performed on the old style VW Beetle. I think that the Beetle might have done slightly better. I this day and age there is no excuse for crash performance of the dismal level. I have seen crash test of other Chinese makes and those are disturbing as well.

America is land of the tort home of the litigation attorney. If someone starts to sell those cars here what insurance company is going to cover them and at what price. Sure the car is cheap, but the premiums will likely be sky high. I can see law suits to keeps attorneys employed for decades. I don't think that the car company in China would be within reach for a suit, but the business that sells them in the US would be. Want to sell Chinese cars?

This is now a reasonable concern for any US company selling Chinese products. I recently read an article in Inc. magazine about a company that is the US importer of Chinese replacement tires. They are a small importer and cannot possibly check each batch of tires that are shipped. Apparently, the manufacturer started to cut some corners and the tires started failing. By the time the US importer realized he had an "issue" a couple of people died in accidents caused by the tire failure. Naturally, the Chinese manufacturer denies any responsibility or accepts any fault. The importer is between a rock and a hard place.

Haha, a Kia Amanti beat the BMW's side impact rating because of an arm rest.

Why are you guys bashing the Chery? The whole car is a state of the art crumple zone... they are way ahead of everyone else with this technology

Let's not mention the biohazard when the lead paint flakes off.

Don't count the Chinese out. Detroit didn't think the little Japanese cars would be a problem back in the 70's. Now look at them...
