I need some wheels re-finished / re-chromed
I just purchased a set of 16" Lorinser rims on e-bay for $300. Structure wise, they appear to be in very good condition with no dents or flat spots. There is no curb rash either. The chrome however, is another story. It is beginning to bubble and flake from the rim's lip. I'd like to know what process is used to refinish the rim? What would the approximate cost be? What other alternatives besides chrome are there? And finally does anyone know a shop in the Bay Area (preferably the North Bay) where these services can be performed?
Thanks for your help! |

For what it cost to rechrome you can probably pic up a new set and sell your old ones on e-bay just like the other guy did.

If the wheels are aluminum, then you can get the chrome removed and just have the bare aluminum polished to a chrome-like shine. You can also have then painted and clearcoated just like OEM wheels.

What Rdanz said.
Plus...rumor has it that when chrome is stripped from a wheel the process (or the combined process of chroming and stripping) weakens the integrity of the wheel.
