My 16" CLK wheels have 205/55 R16 tires and the circumference is the same as the stock 14" bundts and tires. My Speedo and odometer are dead on according to my GPS navigator.

I played around with CLK wheels on my 124 after putting AMG's on the CLK. Didn't like the way the wider wheels stuck out in the back, so I put the stock wheels back on after cleaning them up real good. I think the car handles better with the stock wheels as well.

Understood, but if you read post #37 he's responding to the comment that it adds power also. Regarding power, the only gain that the lighter wheels will give is in the power/weight ratio, which is the same result as adding less than one horsepower or removing the spare tire.
If the response were regarding improving traction, then the sprung/unsprung ratio is the most important, or brake cooling, etc. I do like lightweight wheels, have a couple of sets of forged BBS wheels on cars here, but as an opinion I don't like these CLK wheels on the 123. Quote:

I don't really like the W123's with the CLK wheels, the wheels look kind of cheap on it. I really like the 115 with the CLK wheels, though. Actually, I think that looks awesome.

i assume you mean your amg's stuck out too much on the clk? cause clk wheels tuck nicely under a w124's arches

regarding suspension, i think if you're running a 30+ year old car on 30+ year old struts, they need to be replaced. if they're even 10 years old, i'd replace them. with less than 10 year old bilstein hd's or regular bilstein struts that aren't blown completely, i don't see how increasing an inch or two in diameter or width over the stock wheels changes anything on the suspension end. if anything it widens the track of the wheels, giving better handling for the kind of driving you'd do with this car. it's not like i'm speeding around turns in my w123 sedan, so this isn't high performance driving here. |

actually that looks really nice. f it, for that car, i'd even go with chrome wire wheels. the amount of space in the w114/w115 fender well is amazing. i don't doubt you can fit 9-10" wide wheels with the right offset.

Euros.
The '83's buried in the garage. When I dig it out next, I'll snap a pic or two of the Ronal funky bundts.
Jay.

"It widens the track of the car". You answered your own question ,wider means more tire to the road, not to be technical ,just logical.I do own a set and what Ive noticed is a faster rate of braking but a replacement of pads came around the corner sooner. If you go further with your idea Ill have to get technical.
