New Owner 1988 560 SL
Hello Everyone,
I certainly hope my experience with this car is better than Boat Ownership..."The Two Best Days Of Boat(Break Out Another Thousand) Ownership is the day you buy it and the day you sell it." I just purchased a 1988 560 SL with 142,000 miles with impecable maintenace records from a woman who spared no expence in maintaining the car at the local MB Dealership. The PPI came back with , Buy This Car because if you don't I will. I'm looking forward to maintaining this car to Bristol Standards with all of your help. |

A 1988 with 142,000 miles and maintenance records is a lot further aheadin future expenses, than a 1988 with 40,000 miles and no records. These carslike to be driven. When they need TLC,I would rather own another boat.

I've owned my 560SL for about seven weeks now, and it's in the shop to fix the A/C, an oil leak, the fuel pump relay, and to get an oil change. I was lucky to find a good independent shop that I trust, and even though this will cost some $$$, I know that it's well-spent. This car will still be humming along when I'm ready to hand it over to my son...in about 20 years!! Spending $1000 on my Chevy truck seems like a crisis -- spending even more on the 560 seems like an investment.

You will generally find most used 560SL's need alot of work to get them back up to the bullet proof reliability and durability standards they possesed when new. But once that is done they are long lasting, generally trouble free (with the exception of AC) cars.
