1984 Mercedes Benz 300D Euro 4-speed manual for sale. Rust free and driven from California to Maine in November, averaging 27.3 mpg @ 70-75 mph. Metallic gray with black vinyl/gray cloth interior. Clean California title. Exact mileage unknown.
The following was recently replaced by the prior owner: Radiator (new) 4 new tires New brakes New stereo with USB port & speakers After purchasing the vehicle and prior to my cross-country trip I replaced and or performed the following, "except for the alignment": Injectors Liquid Moly Diesel purge New fuel filters, primary and secondary Liquid Moly engine oil flush Brake and slave/master cylinder flush New 15W-40 oil and filter New belts and some new hoses New fuel hand priming pump New inner and outer tie-rod ends New steering damper Front end alignment New glow plugs Adjust valves New homokinetic rear axles and axle seals New drive shaft rubber and support bearing New HD Bilstein shocks front and rear New voltage regulator New shifter boot New shifter bushings Replaced clock Repaired odometer Replaced rear differential 3.46:1 ratio as original Replaced transmission Flushed and drained cooling system After the cross country trip, the following was done: New front main seal New oil pan gasket New valve stem seals Negatives of this car is that the paint if faded due to the hot California sun, the dash is cracked and the rear passenger door has been creased and slightly dented. Missing are 3 of 4 black loop carpet mats. Driver side outer bolster is worn. Since coming to Maine it was started in 11 degree weather and after one glow plug cycle it fired-up on the first try. The car runs very well and will give the new owner plenty of life if maintained properly. It goes down the road with absolutely no shaking or vibration and the transmission shifts like butter. The AC compressor is not mounted on the car and was not there when purchased. All lights, heater fan, wipers, windshield washers and vacuum door locks work fine. It is equipped with a manual sunroof, hand crank windows and of course the manual climate controls that come with the Euro version which also has the smaller and better looking bumpers. If I did not own a 1979 240TD with an OM606/5-speed manual and a cherry1984 300TD that I have completely gone through, there is no way I would be selling this car. It is time to thin the herd as my wife and I have 8 vehicles between us which does not make any sense. The car comes with the transmission and differential that I removed. The removed differential is fine but the removed transmission will need new bearings or so it seems. Also included is a Euro intake manifold and Euro exhaust manifold that does not accommodate the EGR. Although the clutch is not slipping, it will need replacement at some time but it should last for quite a while depending on driver ability. Of note is the fact that all of the glass is original from 1984, not that it makes a lot of difference but is a rarity in Maine. Feel free to pick it apart ........."IT IS, WHAT IT IS" Asking price $3500.00. |
