Gorgeous! Mine has 330K with a new paint Brilliant Silver paint job and same interior as yours. Has a new top end and timing chain. Still runs better than any car I've had. If I needed another car I'd buy this.

What's the gas mileage on these models?

high 20's to low 30's.
my last tank was only 27.6 mpg but that's lower than normal
i think you could do 35 if you babied it around

My best tank was 36.1, 650 miles on a tank. Average fuel economy straight city is 23-25mpg. Mixed 28-30mpg. I have a properly timed, properly maintained fuel system on both W210s.

The best I ever got in her was 36 mpg. Diesel had gone up to $4.75 and I drove her 55 mph to and from work. Generally she gets 30 mpg as most of my driving miles are highway.

I kinda got all choked up on the pictures as I just sent my '99 TD to the bone yard just 5 months ago. Your car looks awesome and is good deal at $4000 considering it never missed a service. Curiosity is getting the better of me however - may I ask what is the piece of paper wedged between the steering wheel and the lower dash?

I waited too long to change out glow plugs the last time. My mechanic had to pull the head and drill the glow plugs out. Apparently, they can mushroom and they won't come out.

That's all for the engine, and the trans has never needed repair.

I really wanted a 98. That's the first year for the turbo OM606 in this country. But now I just found out that 98 and later diesel cars have to be smogged out here. Missed it by one year! That would stick me with a 97, but those weren't turbo, unless someone got it direct from Europe as you did. So I guess I need a Euro market 97 turbo (like that's going to happen).
