Feeler: 1983/81 240D/300D
Putting a feeler out for my 240D which I finally need to replace. It started out as a 1983 240D with about 250,000 miles, but I swapped in a 1981 OM617.951 with about 190,000 miles. 4-speed manual. 3.07 rear end.
The Good: -Runs, drives, registered, inspected. -Rear tires recently replaced -Clutch recently replaced -Front left caliper recently replaced -frequent oil changes and maintenance in four years I've owned it -nice interior -lots of extra parts -no vacuum or electrical gremlins (although the rear windows have something up and the antenna motor needs adjusting) Could go either way: -Greasecar kit w/ additional additions The Bad: -Needs new battery -A little hard to start in cold (likely due to battery) -needs drive shaft replaced -quite rusty (with some of my own shoddy repairs) -Some suspension/steering bushings are going. -Front tires are alright, insides worn out but should be fine now that I fixed the ride height. -Missing one hubcap (the remaining three are on my wall) -engine bay is not exactly put together (a lot of zip ties) Time and money are becoming increasingly scarce and I need a more reliable car. I just can't rationalize investing anymore money or time. If I had the space to keep it and part it out myself, I would. Mostly being sold for parts. As I've been told in the past, the rust is just too far gone (pictures). The killer for me is the drive shaft. One of the bolt holes is nearing it's breaking point (picture). I have no way of telling when it will and would rather that not be the demise of my baby. The engine only has a few hundred miles on veg to those who care. Compression of the engine was alright when I got it. Willing to sell with or without greasecar kit. Looking for some reasonable prices. I was thinking around $1000. Shoot me a PM if you have questions or are interested in buying. pic #3 camber angles look funky cause I had it jacked up before and they haven't settled.

Curious,
What corner is the last rust pic, with floor mat showing through? I see some added screws, do you have a patch for this spot?

That's underneath the passenger side seats front support. The added screws were holding on some plastic that I threw on there to keep water out.

Is this the same car that may have had an Epic rust repair thread 3-4 years ago?

Yup, I finally gave up. It was a noble attempt when I had the means, but now I actually need a not-project car.
