Question Kick down switch

Is this thing broken? When cruising at 35mph+ then punch it there is no kickdown. Even when I press hard when floored. Is my kickdown switch missing it's "top"?

I can tell you that my 300CD's kickdown switch looks just like that and I was wondering if mine lost its top too...

It works, however I have to really really press on the pedal

Thanks! I had my car checked out by my local MBZ garage and they thought all is normal. They tought that maybe there was some linkage that might be our of adjustment.

I still have kickdown problems. I can actually feel the switch depress when I press the trottle hard to the floor but it doesn't always kick down. Or I only get 3rd when I really need 2nd. It's actually messed me up several times when merging on the freeway. I think I'm taking my car to Bergwerks in Van Nuys and have them take a look.

At about 100,000 miles, my kickdown switch starting "sticking." I knew the day would come when I would have to replace the switch. Believe me, I use it a lot, and I know sometimes I just put my foot to the floor HARD!

I purchased a new kickdown switch from the dealer, roughly $30 if I remember correctly. It took me about 15 minutes to replace... relatively straight forward, just kinda of tight with the carpet down there and all.

Good luck!
