I bought the OM603 OFV on greazzer's site and received the OFV as shown in the picture:
however after pulling the OFV on my 1987 300TD it appears the stock OFV on my car is quite a bit shorter: Of course I still tried to install it even though I was pretty sure it wouldn't fit. You can see here there the new OFV bottoms out with a pretty big gap: Assuming I'm installing it in the correct place on the pump is there any reason my pump would have smaller/shorter OFV than others? I've previously purchased an OFV and injectors from Greazzer for my OM617 with great results, so I'm assuming my I'm either doing something wrong or have a different pump than other OM603 engines. Hoping someone might have some insight here. thanks |

I posted about this in his for sale thread in the parts subforum of this site. The 603's use the same size overflow valve as the 61x engines. The long bolt is for the 606 engines. I assume he has not updated his website to reflect that.

Got the OFV spring installed and the rebiult injectors installed. All I can say is wow what a difference. My plan was to install the injectors first and the OFV later so I could evaluate the changes with each component but I got to excited and installed it all. I never realized how smooth these engines are supposed to be. A huge thanks to Greazzer for the amazing work he does.

Greazzer Peaks & Tweaks
Don't forget to buy his injectors ! .
The smoothness is amazing and my fuel economy jumped by close to 5 MPG .

Greazzer's building his fan following across the pond too! I've got a spring, rebuilt injectors and fuel lift pump going on this weekend.
According to his testing, my old injectors were running 150 psi lower than spec, so the difference should be very noticeable. Safe to say I wouldn't have my fuel system cared for by anyone else.

150psi won't make a tangible difference. I've run new 240/ nozzles at 135, 145 and 150bar. No difference at all in power, smoke, economy or noise.
Balance is much more important than overall pressure. A good tester with a proper shim kit can get them +/- 2bar consistently. |

I would disagree. 50 PSI or more from NA nominal PSI OF 1650 at the lower end should be avoided. Same with turbo , eg 1900 PSI. I know a few forum members swear their nozzles are not worn with 300k on the clock or PSI can be off the charts in either direction or no balance between nozzle holders. I am slightly north of 1,000 sets of injectors under my belt and so far all of these claims haven’t panned out. But who knows. If your car runs fine then keep up what you’re doing. For those who are more conservative or traditional, I suggest nominal PSI of 1650 or 1950 and new nozzles at 1700 and 2000 respectively and balance at +/- 25 PSI and new nozzles at the 75 to 100k.

For visibility, I am now down to the last seven (7) springs out of the 1,000 production run. Not sure when or if I will do another production run.
Just want to thank everyone ! |
