Voltage regulator question?
Cars,79-300SD,83-300D. This might be a dumb question. I see Bosh regulator/brushes priced at about $45 & Germany brand name regulator/brushes priced at about $15. Is there a big difference in quality & durability between these two brand names?
Thanks, Lou |

I have never bought a new one but I think allot of folks use the cheap ones. I just replace the brushs. That is I have a used one with replaced brushes on "stand by"

Voltage Regulator
MY 83 300SD Bosch made in Germany regulator went out (brushes still looked new) I replaced it with a Bosch made in India regulator for $21.23 from a local import auto parts store. All the latest Bosch parts seem to come from India and I have not had any trouble. Give it a try

Thank you for the input.
I think I'll get one of the cheap ones & try it out while I check out/rebuild the ones I'm running now. If the cheap one seems ok, I'll buy anther one and carry one in each car as spares. I bought these cars at a pretty low price. I've put a lot of hard miles on them thru some fairly remote areas. They both have about 330,000 miles on them. Other than oil changes & fuel, I've had to spend very little on repairs. They both have good power and get ok fuel milage according to what I see on this forum.
Thanks for the help, Lou |
