Use whatever is stock. Part of the reason for the braided ground strap is vibration and their usually short length and they are not insulated. A short length of cable would be prone to break over time. A long cable has more room to flex without breaking.

Makes sense. Mine has a long cable that stretches from the block, near the alternator, to the fender, near the battery.

When I need cables, I go to pullapart and grab a factory wire from a similar car.

Thebgassers have much thicker wiring.
Any mb other than a 420E would have great cables.
420E has battery under the seat...

I miss living in the San Francisco Bay Area where there were 3 Pick N Pulls within 50 miles of me. There are none up here in Humboldt County.
