W123 lower control arm bushings - options
I don't know what to do for W123 LCA bushings...looks like the only options are Febi-Bilstein, Karlyn, or Uro. All equally crap. Genuine is 10x the price. Which of the 3 is the lesser of the evils?

There is an upgrade available using w126 bushings, but I ran into serious difficulty installing them. Unfortunately I dont recall what brand I went with.

Moog is also available but I don't know if they manufacture their own bushings? I've used them on other non-MBs with moderate success in the past.

Lemforder also makes them what info I could find has made in germany. You can search the Mercede part number 1233301375 or the lemforder part number 10962 01. That is for the stock lower control arm bushigns with the aluminum tube in the kit.
You can also use the Lower Control Arm Bushings for a W126 mercedes part number 126 330 00 75. PelicanParts or sponser sells these made by lemforder. However, for some reason in the last year or so some have had some slight trouble with inarlling them in the Control Arm. Best to read up on both. I believe lemforder makes both types fo bushing kits. Both bushings need to be indexed properly before installation.

I could not find Lemforder W123 LCA bushings from any vendor. I did however find them for a W126! What is the difficulty in installing them? Seems they came on some W123s from the factory per your previous posts. I have a hydraulic press if that will help.

I did some more reading and it seems most W126 folks seem to have issue removing the LCA bushings because the caps are pressed on to the central bushing. Removing the W123 bushings seems to be easier, and once removed I have a set of 3/4" sockets which I can use to press the outside of the new W126 bushings in together with a long bolt, nuts, and washers. That's the plan anyways! Thanks.
Demothen, what issue did you run into when installing them?

I installed the lemforder w126 bushings into my w123 control arms. I bought 2 sets just incase I messed up. You can use a threaded rod with washers and sockets but it will not look pretty when installed. I ended up using the W126 bushing tool to install the new bushing into the control arms, I lubed the bushings before installing. It took all of 2 minutes to press them in maybe??? If you don't cannot get a hold of the special tool, you should just stick with the stock w123 bushings from the dealer. You are only going to install them once and they will last a very long time. There is no use in saving $50-$75 when the factory bushings will last at least 10-15years, compared to maybe 5-7 years with the aftermarket ones if they are not Lemforder.
Removing the bushings are easy. Just put your control arm in a bench vise and use a sawzall to cut the endocaps off. Then use a threaded rod with sockets to press them out. Removing the bushings takes the most time. |

I would go with the Lemforder or factory Bushings if possible.
Then it all depends on how long you are going to keep the vehicle on the quality you want. IE...Uro, febi etc.... I have all Lemforder parts for the front end on the 240D, and I have the W126 lower control arm bushings. So after doing much research and the problems others have had with replacing them. I decided to buy the Bushing press tool. I found it on Either CL or E-bay? brand new for $110 with shipping. Haven`t used it yet, but soon..... Today is the first day of Autumn so soon better be pretty quick...what happened to Summer? ![]() Mercedes Benz E-Class Lower Control Arm Bushing Tool Set W211 Doesn`t list the w123, but the 123 and 126 lower Control arm is the same. But they get them from the dealer. Control Arm Bushing Kit 1233301375 - Genuine Mercedes-Benz - 123-330-13-75 | Pelican Parts I think I paid $25 or $30 ea for the W126 bushings. We've been selling about 200 of URO Parts Control Arm Bushing 123 330 1375 annually for the last five years, and haven't received any "defect returns" from our wholesale customers. Doesn't mean there haven't been defects (people often throw away defective inexpensive parts instead of returning them), but it's a good sign.

If you change the Lower Control Arm Bushings it is an extremely high chance you will need a front end alignment.
