H&R Springs
The exchange rate finally got good enough for me to pull the trigger on a set of H&R springs for my 300TD. Package arrived today and the springs look great. It will likely be sometime later this summer before I get them installed. I will post before and after pictures of the ride height difference after I do the work.

You'll enjoy the ride on those. Slightly stiffens the ride, but nothing that'll break the back. If you get the chance, throw on some Bilstein sports and you'll wish you did it ages ago. Nice buy!

I just did the Bilstein Sports with a front suspension rebuild and I needed the springs to match. The real driving factor was an uneven sag side to side in the rear springs.

Where did you buy them from?

Found them on eBay.de. Seller was mmm-automotive. They had the best price and shipping was pretty reasonable. I did a little research first to be sure I had the correct set for a diesel wagon.

Could you share the part numbers?

Sorry if I am being dense, but did you do the front, rear or both?
You mentioned rear end being uneven....

It is one part number for the full set of four springs. This set should be the correct one for a TD with the SLS rear suspension.

There is no Bilstein Sports for the w123, is this another car or are you saying bilstein hd? I will be surprised if the uneven rear was from springs...

Sorry, it was the HDs that I put on. Everything I have read indicates that the primary rear ride height comes from the springs and the SLS serves to maintain the height and act as shock absorbers. I rebuilt the rest of the rear end a couple of years ago and it has always had the lopsided sag, even with all new bushings. What do you think might cause it to be out of level?

Valve maybe? It is probably springs, would just be surprised.

On your question about the SLS, whomever wrote that the springs control the ride height is wrong. The springs on the SLS-equipped cars are very weak. If the system loses its pressure, the car will squat on the ground like a scooting dog. (That is why the SLS-delete folks install springs from w123 sedans, or w140 rear springs.) I have a parts car in my driveway I can show a pic of, to illustrate. To achieve proper ride height the system has to be working properly and the actual height can be fine-tuned using the adjustment rod on the self-leveling valve under the car.

Here is the pic of the parts car I have. The springs are still there, but the SLS blew a hose backing off the trailer when it arrived. Nice stain on my street, good thing I have good neighbours and not wannabe bylaw enforcers....
If your rear end is lopsided, my guess would be that one of the shocks has an internal problem. Or maybe one of your springs lost its oomph... I don't recall reading about anyone with that issue, previously. The springs don't give the car ride height, but perhaps a bad one could give it a lean? Hope the new springs fix it.

I rebuilt the SLS valve a few years ago and it never sags after sitting for awhile. The system is bled. The only thing I can figure is that one of the rear springs is not pulling its weight. The drivers side sits about an inch lower than the passenger side in the rear.
