They almost always had batteries for your average japanese car or GM side post, recently I had to buy a GM side post and drove the car to their warehouse - they checked it and it comes out that it actually had a warranty left on it. Replaced for quite less than even a blemished battery cost. - The PO had installed it. Good support IMO.
OTOH - I have also bought continental brand batteries and they do pack a punch, installed in a 2.4 camry and that beastly battery had 750CCA - in a smaller case than its original 500CCA battery.

I went to the local Interstate distributor to see what they have in blems for my 85 300D as well as get a few old batteries tested. Ended up buying an H8 for $40.
This one has a black case, not the white that Interstate batteries are known for. I was told this is a Mercedes AGM battery and came back from the dealer (I was told Interstate supplies Mercedes with batteries). All labels were removed and replaced with a label that says EconoPower. The rep shook his battery and my Lead acid and sure enough I heard the sloshing of mine but his AGM was quiet. I asked him to put it on the tester and it passed the 900 CCA test. This Mercedes AGM battery weighs 58 lbs (compared to my Advance auto parts Silver group 93 which weighs 47 lbs). I asked him what's the deal with these blem "take offs". His reply was that basically 10% have nothing wrong with them and they have been tested good before being sold. I only get a 6 month warranty on this one so I will be betting my luck. $40 for an H8 AGM, I'll take a chance.
