Coolant Expansion Tank Cap
1985 300TD
What is the proper factory expansion tank cap for this year? What would the car have come with new? I have seen 100, 120 and 140 caps. My tank has developed a leak{crack} after 27 years so I'm going to replace it but wanted to know the correct cap value. Thanks John

120 cap. Originally the W123 diesels were fitted with a 100 cap, but in later years MB fitted 120 caps, also as a replacement article.
The 140 caps are for the W124. |

99.9% of the time any of those caps will suffice!
The 1.2 Bar cap is the MB recommended cap. Unless the cooling system is UNDER stress, the pressure rarely gets up to .7 bar.

Thanks for the information....I ordered a new 120 cap. I had a 140 on the reservoir but since I am replacing it because of the leak; I will get the MB recommended cap.
John
