instrument cluster wiring

Helping a friend with his '77 300D. His instrument lighting was not working so we decided to jumper the rheostat. Evidently someone had already been messing with some of the wires. We have 2 wires that we're not sure about. A brown and a black. The glow system had has been updated to a manual momentary button.

I assume the black was to the glow plug light.

The brown we're not sure of. Ground? If ground, where does it attach to?

We figured it out. The brown was a wire the PO used for a ground. The black was to the glow plug light.
