Timing chain link pitch between engines
The 300D timing chain is 136 links, the 300SDL is 126 links. Are the pitch the same? Would a 300D ( 617) chain fit a 300SDL (603 ) engine if I remove 10 links.

I'm going to say it is the same except for the number of links.
If you look on the Fastlane site for "Timing Chain Links" aka Master link. They are the same part number. OM603 OM617 A measurement of one of my 617 chains states 3/8 x 7/32. .

Timing chains
OM617 (1985) timing chain:
 OM603 (1987) timing chain:  OM606 (1996) timing chain:  Kinda hard to compare the scale of the photos but this is all I could find in my collection of photos taken at different times and with different cameras. Jeremy
