ALDA will not come off
You heard me. The ALDA doesn't want to come off. On my 84 IP it was a 2 minute procedure. My 85 isn't so compliant.
I've soaked the nut with Brake cleaner and followed that with PB-Blaster. I will continue the process in the hope that it finally makes a difference. If I torque too hard am I in danger of breaking the "crown"/threaded portion of the pump where the ALDA bolts/screws on? |

Standing in front of the car, get a long flat blade screwdriver and rest the tip the side of the ALDA with the hose nipple. Position it so as to unscrew the ALDA when you then whack the end of the screwdriver. I used a hand to hit it, you might step up to taps from a hammer. For bonus points, you could put a wrench on the nut at the base of the ALDA and have somebody hold that. But hitting the screwdriver and letting the nut turn too should be enough to get started. Then undo the nut to liberate your ALDA into the circular bin!
