I would post a pic of the adapter plate but it is currently between a 617 engine and a 5 speed transmission. It looks identical to the 615, 616, 617, etc., only it has two dowel holes in it which the other plate lacks and about two of the mounting holes are in different locations. If a GM transmission will bolt up to the R 110 XXX XX adapter plate then it will also bolt up to the 615, 616, 617 adapter plate, less maybe one or two of the holes.

The only one that would even come close to being the general diameter would be the 2.8 v6 style bell-and that came along about the end of the 61x benz engines And there was never a gm product that had a 617---or some other 617 benz powered vehicle that used a gm tranz- Im aware of-not even in Brasil--4btswaps member -crippledrooster- could tell if anyone could. There was a 60x type benz motor in Sangyong vehicles that came with a Borgwarner T5 that was sold in europe, australia and other parts of the world.

Folks, I don't have a better version of the part number the seller provided, unfortunately. Also, I finally got off my but and set this plate up against a GM 700R4 and a GM THD 400: nope, doesn't match up to those. I wish I had my old Chrysler Torqueflite hear to try out as well. I'm still trying to find out more about this to support the excitement my post seems to have caused. The eBay seller is "mespe".

The more I look at this thing, the more I think it's made for Mercedes transmissions to mount to an engine and not a true adapter at all. I'll update you on what the seller may tell me, but I apologize for my lack of responsibility in checking this out further before mentioning it here. I'll be back.

Yes, Sorry friend-thats just a standard 617 plate, The only truck tranz bolting up to that is a benz truck 5 speed like this one. Its much smaller than a gm-chevy barn bell. If someone used a plate like the $$$$ 4x4 labs one there still would not be room for the merc fly, and if it had the extra space out of the plate ,merc fly would fit but even a gm input shaft would not be long enough.

Yep, seller also clarified for me: is indeed for Mercedes transmissions used in the USA. I apologize for everyone for the needless excitement.

What Mercedes truck transmissions were bolted up to 617 in the USA? None to my knowledge unless they were grey market.

The intakes on the vans were different than anything on the cars I think. It was a long tube with branches going down but I think it was taller due to the fact that the line from the air cleaner had to travel over the radiator.

The 617's in the vans were very rare, even in Europe. Almost all of them had the 616. Maybe a Euro scrap yard has one.
