Marvel Mystery Oil

I put this stuff in my engine to see if it would effect the knocking.

Should I be able to smell a rather distinct new smell from the exhaust?

I hope I shouldn't be able to smell anything new. And it didn't effect my knock.

Want to provide a few more details? Like precisely where you put it in what engine and how much?

i would rather not.

84 300D
32 oz.
in that hole at the front top of the motor near where that fan spins and there are what look like rubber bands holding a bunch of wheels together. if that doesn't help, just imagine where the hood ornament is, then under the hood about a 1 foot and 1/2 is where the hole is. it's kind of hard to miss if you can grasp the layman term "put it in the engine" i think you will be able to find it. and the work "oil" is spelled on the top of the cap i poured it in.

I put some in the fuel tank once in a while, maybe once every 2 or 3 months.

I like Marvel as a penatrant and in small amounts a fuel additive. Not in the crankcase unless I had the objective of trying to remove sludge. If you really put in 32oz I would do an oil change asap. Marvel is some hard core old school stuff and may break down your oil.

I think you dumped it into the Oil Fill Hole and it mixes with your Engine Oil. So you will not notice an difference in Exhaust smell because it is not burning in the Cylinder.

I do not think it is a good idea to put it into the Crankcase Oil on any Diesel Engine.

If you want to clean up the interior of your Engine switch to Synthetic Oil when you do your next Oil Chage.

On the subject of grasping concepts, you are apparently not aware that Marvel Mystery Oil is used as both an oil additive and a fuel additive. Some folks even fill their fuel filter with it. In layman's terms, there is more than one way to get MMO into an engine.

There is also more than one way to not get a worthwhile answer to a question. I see that you are familiar with at least two of them.

For better smelling exhaust, try 32 oz. of Chanel No. 5 in the fuel tank.

Don't take the bait every time lad, you already revealed how you truly are in your first post.

I knew all the answers. And gave all the necessary information the first time. Just wanted a second opinion.

Regardless of car and engine, there shouldn't be a smell coming from the Marvel. The Marvel showed that oil is being burnt via poor valve seals, head gasket fault, or bad rings. And now, when I drain the oil and pull the pan I can see a view of the crank then decide if I want to pull the head or see the motor is bad and to go get another.

Wow, that takes courage to dump 32oz of that stuff into the engine. I'd be changing that oil ASAP if I were you.

if you want a better way to ruin an engine, get sodium silicate and run it through. it'll do a better job...
