Vacuum Line Filter

Yesterday I finally decided to add the inline filters to the Vacuum line at the fuel shut off, as a protection incase the shutoff diaphram leaks engine oil.

Also added one from the large black vac line going to the brake booster.
this filter takes care of the air/heat pod under the dash, the door lock system and the fuel shutoff.

I read WHUNTER post on this subject a while back, and finally got motivated to get er done.

I scrounged through all my rubber connectors, and came up with what looks pretty good. a couple rubber elbows makes the bends smoother. the center rubber tri piece of the 3 I have pictured is the one I used. It has a plastic clip to hold the 3 together. not sure what model I pulled it off of at PNP. most I have seen are the type on the left.

so we definately do not want engine oil in the vacuum system.

This is on the 85 Cali, with the simplified Vacuum system .

If you look inside W123 cabins, the central lock vacuum lines have these rubber fitting holders.

Neat idea, I might grab a few myself. I already have the inline filters.

Well, DUHH. I should have known for the life of me, I couldn`t think where I got these.

I might have to replace the elbows, these are kind of iffy. next time Iam by a dealer, see what they have.

any clear fuel filter will suffice. it's just a visual indicator of oil in the lines.

I picked these up at a Good-Guys Street Rod swap meet for a $1.00 each.
Just a cheap inline fuel filter.

For the rubber elbos and other vacuum line connections, I sourced them from PNP.

You installed the one connected to the main vacuum line backwards.

Both of them have the arrow pointing to the firewall. I don`t think it makes much difference in this situation. they are only there to let us know if oil is getting into the system from the vacuum pump and/or the vacuum fuel shut off thingy.

Best described as an inline Tampon.
