using 2-stroke
I put about 6-8 oz in my tank (83 300D). An earlier post apparently figured out the exact mixing ratio.
In my N14 Red Top, I put 1 qt per 142 gal tank. does better than half-gallon of Lucas per tank. and my fuel mileage difference is 2 mpg, on average on the Benz.

BTW, I also tried it in the CRV gas engine. Added one little bottle that Lucas comes in, and it increased the mileage from 24 to 26 mpg.

Like $2.99/quart from Autozone....Saving money??? Perhaps not, but it certainly makes a quieter motor...

$$ saved?
I buy my 2=stroke oil at Walmart. Last time I bought it for $7.50/gal. I'd say I not only save money on fuel, but on wear and tear on the engine from the lubrication to the top half of the engine.

On a Gasoline Engine you can see how some additive in the Fuel might help the upper Cylinder and Intake Valves due to the Fuel being delivered by most systems into the incoming intake Air and the Air/Fuel Mixture has some chance to hit the Cylinder Walls. And, I can see how a Fuel additive; in this case 2 Stroke Oil could help lube things as far as the Injector. But, once it is injected and burning in the Cylinders how does that lube the upper half of the Engine? The only time I can possibly see the 2 Stroke helping the upper Cylinders is when you are first starting and Fuel is Injected but not burned or not burning completely. I think I mentioned this way back in the thread somewhere. Some 2 Stroke Oil is red. If you are using red 22 Strok Oil and you are stopped and your Fuel Tank is dipped (checked to see if you use Off Road Diesel Fuel) what happens. When this thread cam out I had several bottles and cans of 2-Stroke and I eventually put them in My Tank. I believe one was from Walmart and that it was stained Green, some were red one in a can was a light motor oil color.

I run a two tank WVO system with well filtered fuel. Since I use very little diesel (approx 5 %), do you think I need to add 2 stroke oil to my diesel fuel?. WWO has a lot more lubricity compared to ULSD and since it is used 95% of the time, my guess is no. Agree or disagree?

The Spicer Test said Biodiesl was a better lubricant then a bunch of the Fuel Addatives. Biodiesel is not the same as WVO. My thoughs on WVO is that it has more Water, Acids and unknown stuff in it also that could be bad if is sits in the Fuel Injection Pump.

When I went to the Walmart Site the cheapest 1 Gallon 2-cycle Oil was $12+.
The others that showed a price were higher priced. So I guess sometime when I am there I will have to actually look to see if there is cheaper 2-cycle oil.

![]() Properly filtered WVO should have no water or acids. I never leave WVO in the IP for long. Always flush with diesel before shutdown overnight. 8 years now with no WVO related engine problems

Lots of things that are bad for your Fuel Injection Pump are more slippery than Diesel Fuel. On thing for sure the Higher Viscosity of the WVO is more work for the IP to push through the Fuel Injection Pump. What Filter takes out Water and Acid? Acid might be thinner than Diesel Fuel and pass though a Filter easier. Actually concerning the Water I was speaking of the emulsified Water and whatever it is emulsified with.

I wouldn't be surprised that the cost has gone up. But because I bought it in two gallon jugs, either at WalMart, or Tractor Supply. They are the cheapest source for the 2 stroke oil. Also, I have used as little as 4 oz in the tank.
As for the comment about upper cylinder lubrication . . . what is two stroke oil designed for??? It is for adding to gas for two-stroke engines, which have no oil pump to get oil to the upper cylinder. If you look on the Lucas Bottle, it clearly identifies the Lucas as an upper cylinder lubricant. By my experience, the pour is exactly the same as Lucas, and the major difference is that Lucas contains an injector cleaner, which 2-stroke oil does not. Hunter also provided charts showing that it also boosts the cetene level. My 2 cents worth. Torie
