I may have to repair the front calipers on my car. The rebuild kit looks
to have an O-Ring, a Seal, and some sort of plate. ( ********AZ pic ) Do you check for pitting / corrosion, clean, and put new parts in? Or is there more to it? Didn't see a thread on this. Thanks ---------------------- 1984 MB 300 SD Turbo |

One mistake on brakes is not acceptable.. the first time you do this you need to get someone that knows what they are doing to show you or supervise you.

I wasn't doing this myself. Wanted to get info before going to indy shop. Didn't know if Mercedes needed something special.
That's why I ask if the unit is clean, will it only take the o-ring & seal? ---------------------- 1984 MB 300 SD Turbo |

If the caliper pistons and bores are okay (ie: not pitted or scored), it's just a matter of cleaning things up and replacing the seals, dust boots and heat shields. The only thing that is a little "special" is that the pistons need to installed at a specified angle. Also, the caliper halves should not be disassembled.
