I read that, after replacing the disc, which necessitates removing the brake caliper, one should replace the self-locking caliper mounting bolts with new ones. Is this correct?

that is the book method, but I suspect it's just to get new loctite on the bolts.
so clean off the old bolts, and put on some fresh BLUE loctite.
