Question about vacuum modulator on 240D
This is a repost from another string.
I have an '82 240D and am curious what sets the shift timing when there is no bowden cable? Does the vacuum modulator affect shift timing as well as quality on these transmissions? Curious because my transmission shifts into 4th above 50 mph and seems to high, even when the kickdown switch is disconnected. Thanks!!

I am also trying to solve a vacuum/shifting problem on an '82 240D. When I opened the cover over the 2 switchover valves I could see that the port labled #2 on the diagram below and the right-rear outlet on the front switchover valve labled 64a both had been plugged by stubs and were not connected to anything. The diagrams are not perfectly clear but this actually looks to be correct...can anyone verify that these two ports are not supposed to be connect to anything and are actually just plugged?
