300CD w123 Glass Question

How’s, took a break from Mercedes for a few years, but reviving a few projects that have been neglected.

I have what I thought was a w123 front and rear windshield removed from a 300Cd coupe. I know the rear glass is different, but have read the front windshield is also different. I had a rear glass out of a 300D, and I placed both pieces next to each other, and the coupe glass appears to be an inch or so narrower. But height wise it seems roughly the same.

Does anyone have any experience? I tried to read up on the numbers on the glass, but google search didn’t net any info.

I'm pretty certain the front windshield is coupe specific. Try looking up windshield gaskets, I believe they are also different i.e., coupe specific.

IIRC, they are raked at a different angle. The seal is definitely different between the two. -cth

My friend is parting out a 79 300CD, and i am looking for a front windshield for an 83 300D. They are just enough different not to be interchangeable. Damn!

Are W123 sedan/wagon windshields NLA? Aftermarket?
