You might grab the entire axle and work on it at home. The 3.27 axles are somewhat valuable.

I just removed the compensator spring. First I made sure the inner bolt (left as you look at the spring from the back of the car) is torqued tight. Then I removed the outer bolt completely, the spring was held by the inner bolt, then I started loosening the inner bolt very slowly. As it got loose the spring pushed the bracket, little at a time as the bolt got more loose until all the pressure was released and the spring just sat there free to just remove it then removed the inner bolt and the bracket. 5 minute job, easy and safe.

Can you tell if the compensator is still charged or collapsed? Even the collapsed ones are valuable. Also rear axle if you could get it.

The BOGE compensator is gone. It was replaced with the typical earlier spring which I took. I can get the rear axle if it is a limited slip. How can I tell? Is there a tag or markings on it?

You might want to see if it's worth your time and effort to pull the rear end for this person.

I have a drawer full of Djet distributors I pulled from Pick n Pull cars when they were still there.
No way they are worth that much. These days, you can buy a complete repair kit for the trigger points - Not carried by many NA vendors, but they are readily available from Europe. Cost about US$400, I think. You have to do some soldering. (Checked and it seems prices have gone up a lot! And not available at some euro vendors.)

Nevertheless, on eBay some are asking some crazy prices for sets that are likely just about done ! They last for about 120k miles before wear on the rubbing blocks cause them to start giving problems.

I also have a few spare sets. They are well used and I wouldn't try and sell them as-is to some unsuspecting owner. Life can be extended by adjusting using what we call Norbert's tool. Easy enough to do. May be a side business for you

So far as which Djet parts to snag?

I once had a similar opportunity. Had a young guy strip these off an abandoned yet low mileage 280SE:
Distributor incl trigger points
AAV (Aux air valve front center of engine)
Injectors including fuel rails
MPS (grenade driver side)
ECU (and harness if possible)

Things I didn't get but would have if given the chance:
Fuel pump (at rear of car)
TPS (Throttle position switch) May be easiest to remove complete throttle body.
Resistors and coil
Switchgear (Electronic Ignition Module) front, driver side, maybe under fender? Follow wires from resistors
Temperature sensors
Cold start valve and switch

Pic I used to show what I wanted!

My diff just blew a 2" hole in itself, so I could really use a 3.27 rear axle. Is it still available?

Yes it is, I can check gear ratio Monday. Where are you located? Shipping is an issue, also it has no BOGE compensator.

Thanks. I'm in Columbus Ohio. I DM'ed you on this app, FYI. I don't need the compensator(or the springs or shocks or brake drums).

I replied to your email. If you like email me your number to text you, I can meet you at Erie PA or Ashtabula OH to get the axle. I will only be available this coming week before I leave for overseas.

Yes, spambot posts deleted. Guess I should sell some of the trigger points / distributors I have. Wonder what MAP sensors or ignition boxes might sell for.
