Which operating system are you using? Many of those DVD's use Flash to run their files. Unfortunately, Flash is no longer being supported by Microsoft.

Usually the individual files are in a PDF format. If so, then you can open them individually. You will need to make an index for the files. That is what I had to do when I installed Windows 10.

I just double-checked. I went into a folder called PROGRAM on the Second disk. Then I went to the Welcome.html file, held the shift key down and right-clicked on the file. This allows you to see an "Open With" option in your menu. I chose Internet Explorer, the older browser on my Windows 7 machine. That opened the file and allowed me to see the menus and options and plays the content like it is supposed to. As I remember, you need Windows 7.

This is what it should look like with moving graphic menus.

I tried to load it per the instruction the vendor supplied on 2 different lap tops, one a Windows 7 and the other a Windows 10. He has a 4 Stage process and all works fine through the first 2 stages, however, stage 3 is not understandable in that what he says to do just freezes the screen.

I am supplying a link where I Purchased it: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercedes-Smart-WIS-ASRA-EPC-Workshop-Service-Shop-Repair-Manual-4-DVD-BOX-SET/383494378955?fits=Year%3A1993%7CMake%3AMercedes-Benz&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item594a0bd5cb:g:sqYAAOSwVRNfNkEV&enc=AQAFAAACcBaobrjLl8XobRIiIML1V4Imu%2Fn%2BzU5L90Z278x5ickkxFtV7J5P58ubuVigtBH%2Fe%2FJaV0ZklzVIUQSs 3G5Tb6EPfx9O9idkssCpgx9yFEW6MVVt6z%2BIcPkc0BNd9X%2BzPCkXC53X%2B69RWxK%2FXVyqo2MdR0uXxWh5AGnXYSdmCxQF HhQ6w3SHXGXCHXZ%2FgwKtZv%2B45RBp7tbcmAwGvMcdme99DR32qWGxg4R%2Bs1jPnXqNAwVnHk2b2MwHRas0eVDzeaK85ltQ3w W5daqkCT3zJkw1NNBmdnXWNXQEe9lH%2BbmOpKSLOd%2B6QfNZD%2BjPpWkUTTrKVh%2Fl%2F1iuH9zEPG71J9x7wZ6pyHDpiwQN jHWMfm6Fvbtlpo5W5WBz6da1TnSR%2FnwWldWi5BFMxiwgZy0PCD%2B6eiBdhp87bIOsfCFBegHO3fPAuv1%2FyiOoi1sochrnqB rzRp5DwMyTW%2F2tA6bHRdqS3s7Em7bT4LZDVl5k4teLwmgPR66m%2FRma7HqlXecGB8%2BTagp7AqI3WY44kdJRdG81fqr25Tma TeaIR5E47QSnBbrTtG%2BFI9Mm7ISzMj2%2B0PrWjxAdaW6eVRnqA2V%2F9pxOtZ1Ff1aAPK4OWKYmU%2BZiwHL%2B%2FTL8WVVG bH9%2FLrwKG6p2Hi8JZznQHUiUvG6KCQZCrwAEIIsVY7Jbaeo21Qe51BniF8%2Fw%2FIpLWarPdAKWla5oBsiGZgukmpwxAIL4Pk Xd%2B21xbOeT50pPTuV1wQL2HgCocvfPpwjp0cxhJVXqyVOzsxYlHSOULiH3O9kukyFiZ9eGRWpdeRLimSslq4Ww1xekkwq5qZZP c5oK5RZ2Ig%3D%3D&checksum=383494378955dffda01e652c447593f97899dec77112

I was never able to get it to work either. Vendor was not helpful. I paid by credit card and got a full refund.

I bought mine from the Classic Center about 20 years ago. Worked for a long time then quit working even on the same PC it had worked on before.

Won't allow me to attach as a file. You'll need to add the spacing as required.

I opened the PDF's one at a time and named them-quite time consuming but better than looking for what I wanted every time. I have a hardcopy of the engine manual.

for the old service disks that had *.pdf files, there's an alt index published...
https://www.mercedeslist.com/serviceindex.html

But it's not helpful for the R129 disk or any of the other items that covered the 90s models.
