Crush it under removed civil war statues then paint safe space signs all over the carnage.

....or, saturate it with acidic materials and a lot of UV light, bake it for a LONG time, make it look like absolute hell, and then display it someplace. Just don't glamorize it.

There is a very similar looking Mercedes in the War Museum in Ottawa that is also stated to be one of Hitler's cars.

Despite its troubled early history, it is still quite an interesting vehicle and no doubt one of the finest Benzes ever built. That supercharged 7.7 litre straight 8 alone is a fascinating engine. I hope this car finds a new loving home where it will be used for good purposes.

This is not 'Hitler's car' and I don't think it is being advertised as such.
It is a car he used now and then. The German Army owned all the cars Hitler road in. He was, as head of state, not allowed to drive. This is common among world leaders. So while it may be a car reserved for his use it was never titled to him. And 'reserved for his use' is like saying Trump's limo is reserved for his use. In president Trump's case this is very close to true, but the current car assigned to him is owned by the Secret Service and they use it from time to time to ferry other world leaders. So a car 'used by Hitler' is correct. Hitler also had the use of one of those big six wheeled Mercedes for parades and now and then he was carted around in a Kublewagen. So now the question is: Where is Hitler's Kublewagen? |

See also "The Blue Goose" ( different car )
As for the 6 wheel MB, see " Captain America, Red Skull , V16 Coupe " While I'm not for those that glamorize bad actors, the car is a more or less neutral item Vs a uniform or battle instrument. |

Idle's comments were correct. They were part of the Reichstag's motor pool. They did not actually own the car.
I used to know one of the mechanics who worked on these things at the Reichstag's motor pool. He ended up in my hometown after the war. He actually brought the second Volkswagen into the US. He was an incredible mechanic, and you can imagine, quite fun to talk to. He owned a '56 300S, '58 300 SL cab, and a Porsche 356 (don't remember which one it was.) Another 770K survivor was in my hometown for years. it was originally advertised as "Herman Goerhing's staff car", but it was later revealed that Hitler used it also. There is also a 770K in the Crawford Auto Aviation Museum in Cleveland (definitely worth going to). That one was the King of Norway's car, if I remember correctly.

My biggest concern would be it falling into the hands of a wealthy neo-Nazi and being used as a prop for the current platform of hate. The buyer of the car will hopefully have to sign a pledge that no display or use of the car in a manner glorifying the Reich will be tolerated or it will be confiscated for re-sale by the current owner(s).

Wouldn't just owning a Mercedes would be "owning the make that Hitler owned"?
