W123 280TE Interior Options
Hi folks,
I've have just bought a 1982 280TE (for the princely sum of $100.00  )It has been maintained mechanically very well and has only one small spot of rust, but the interior is a disgrace. I have a much better interior from a 1979 sedan but it is a different colour. What I'd like to know is if the darker brown colour of the sedan interior was ever available in the wagon? Basically, I need to know that if I fit the interior from the sedan, will I be able to get rear carpets etc in a matching colour.

I'm sure if they put that color in a w123 sedan that it was also available in the wagon. The best way to find out is to call GAHH: Convertible Tops, Auto Interiors, Quality Convertible Tops and ask them what they have. GAHH is where everyone gets their Mercedes interior pieces - even the Classic Center.

Color availibility changed over the W123 production.
You've got a late interior wagon and showing pictures of an early style interior. Also, only the front seats will interchange. Perhaps you could custom dye the carpets... Jim

The problems I have are that the driver's seat base has collapsed and both trims are badly cracked. So my plan is to replaced the front seats, trim and front and rear carpets and then fit seat covers to all, so it looks ok. I'm aware the rear seats are completely different animals. The carpet in the rear section has had about a gallon of house paint spilled on it years ago, I've tried many different ways to remove it and have failed every time, so needs to be replaced. The car is mechanically very good and has almost no rust, only the interior is a disaster.  That said, it only cost me $100.00 including 4 new tyres, so I'm approaching it as a budget project.
