New to forum, and here is the project
Well I sold my beetle this summer and I have the need to fill the Slow and Low role in the car department. I have wanted a w114 benz for years, but I found this w108, The body is rust free, only 2 dents, Glass is perfect, it runs, it is complete (anything missing in the pics happens to be in the car or the trunk), BUT the interior is junk. So that is where I need to make this shine. Air ride, eye catching stereo and some resto custom flare.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And here is the car that I am using as inspiration. Same car, Same color just 6 years older hence the different headlamps and mirrors. but other than that. They are fairly similar. ![]() ![]() Link to full feature http://speedhunters.com/archive/2009/06/01/car-feature-gt-gt-aired-mercedes-250s.aspx and a late w114 on air, I am copying his airride setup pretty much to a tee. ![]() ![]() ink to build thread http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?3884094 I am a big VW guy and this is my first Mercedes, so I may have some questions for you folks. The "inspiration" car is probably a 109, which is the upper scale 108 equipped with factory air ride. Trust me, there are plenty of 109's "lowered" simply because the air suspension leaks causing the car to sit on its stops. I think you're better off just buying a 109, which shouldn't be difficult, since you seek the thing that most people want to avoid on the cars (an expensive broken air suspension system). Plus, there all have V8's in various sizes to appease your fancy.
Best of luck! Regards, David

The white "inspiration" car is actually a 250s, and it was a barnfind, super nifty story behind that car. All original excluding the Airride setup. And that's what blew me away. I liked the car as it came from the factory excluding ride height. But that's just personal preference.
Thanks for the words of advice. I will keep you updated as I go. This project will start early in the new year. Cheers Bill

Piece of advice. Do the air-ride and wheels first. Even if you can't drive it.
If you try and fix "everything else" before, you'll never get to it. ![]()

Bill, cool project. Too bad you are so far from me, my 280c would be a cool one to do up like your fellow canuk's car (I've spoken with him via the vwvortex, and he backdated his '74 with the bumpers, tail lights and euro lights). Oh well, probably not worth buying and shipping my car.
Have fun and follow wolf's advice and do the suspension first.
